EXPLORER ADDS NEW TRANSACTION BASED ACCOUNTING SERVICE

North Vancouver, B.C., July 14,1999 - Explorer Software Inc., a leading supplier of Accounting Solutions for Heavy Construction, announced today it's plans on providing Explorer Enterprise Solution on a per usage basis as an Application Service Provider (ASP). Along with Explorer's Network based solutions and traditional software licensing, this addition of service welcomes a new frontier in the software industry.

Contractors who are looking for a new accounting software solution but don’t want the expense of owning new hardware and software can “subscribe” to and utilize our accounting application, Explorer Enterprise Solution, via the Internet. Unlike the standard method of purchasing software for your company, using Explorer as an ASP allows companies of all sizes and budgets to use our industrial-grade software through a virtual network without the initial costs.
Here at Explorer, we believe that all companies should be able to tailor their software applications to their needs, but traditionally, it has been larger companies who have the money to invest in a network infrastructure, maintenance and upgrade costs. We want to change that. Companies large and small can increase productivity and profitability using Explorer Enterprise Solution.

Explorer Enterprise Solution, Client/Server, is optimized for Windows NT and Microsoft BackOffice. Explorer Enterprise Solution is a thin client/server solution. All data, programs and processing takes place on the server.

Thin clients, including Windows-based terminals, network computers and Internet access devices, are ideal for the application-outsourcing market, where ASP's host applications and then rent them on a subscription basis to customers, analysts said. "Thin clients fit well with the ASP concept because the applications are available across the network and not internal to the device," said Greg Blatnik, analyst at Zona Research Inc., Redwood City, Calif. ¹

How does it work?
A virtual network allows users to identify and choose the applications to suit their needs and access those applications via the Internet. Similar to the way many of us access bank accounts and stock portfolio's over the Internet, we can access our accounting system in the same way. Company specific information is securely stored and made available to you via a Thin Client interface on an as needed basis.

Scoop Up A Bigger Margin On Every Job!
Explorer's Explorer Enterprise Solution is offered as a sophisticated yet easy to use Internet ready, Thin Client, 32 bit Windows product which is made up of 7 core modules, including General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Job Costing, Equipment Control, and Hourly and Salary Payrolls. There are over a dozen other integrated add-on modules to build the perfect solution for your business including a comprehensive Service module. Enter information from project sites via a standard Windows Spreadsheet, order Reports on demand, delivering them when, where and how you want them, or visit your own Intranet Web Server to view project information on-line through a standard browser. Using the Internet for communications is a secure reality - today. Call us to find out more.
