Explorer Commercial Systems Announces Pact to Buy Versyss Construction

VANCOUVER – Explorer Commercial Systems signed a definitive agreement to buy the construction software assets of privately held Versyss Systems Inc.
Explorer, a maker of software products for construction accounting and project management has a staff of over 50 employees working in offices located across the United States, Canada, Mexico and the Middle East. Over 80% of Explorer’s staff is development, implementation and support professionals that are the lifeline to the organization. These professionals are continually developing new and better software solutions and lead the industry in creating feature rich and user-friendly products in the construction market.
Versyss, based in Providence, R.I., provides software and hardware solutions to the construction, distribution, energy, government and public and private transportation industries.
Explorer Software President Jim McFarlane describes the acquisition as a combination of healthy companies. "This is not a merger of two broken companies," he said.
This is the second acquisition of construction accounting software by Explorer Software in 2004. In September 2004 Explorer purchased the assets of Conac Software.
