As a member of our support team, you will be providing technical and product support to our end users via the telephone and Internet.  This includes programming and operating system analysis as well as financial accounting analysis.

Duties & Responsibilities (may include the following but are not limited to):

  • Provide technical support to clients to use Explorer’s construction software solutions by identifying and solving issues.
  • Provide product and business knowledge to support customers in the use of Explorer’s software.
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in the Explorer products.
  • Continue improvement and development of a certification program for yourself to address the skills and technical knowledge needed to deliver the best quality Explorer support possible.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years experience with Windows NT and/or UNIX network administration, Visual/Business Basic programming, accounting software and/or the heavy construction industry.
  • Construction industry knowledge and business practices knowledge is desired.
  • Strong leadership and diplomacy skills and the ability to multitask within a fast paced and dynamic workplace.
  • Excellent communication with a great attitude.
  • Fluency in languages other than English, in particular French and Spanish an asset.
  • Proficiency using MS Office Products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook).

This role will appeal to a candidate who is flexible, self-motivated and thrives in a face-paced team environment. Reporting to the VP, Finance and Administration of North America, the candidate will work closely with the Presidents of various companies to manage the accounting functions and run daily operations. As the Financial Accountant for the North American region of the JDM Group of Companies your job responsibilities will include:

  • Cash Flow Management
    -Day to day banking and cash management
    -Preparation and updating of cash flow forecasts as required by VP, Finance and Administration
    -Analysis of costs with objective of streamlining costs where possible
    -Provide oversight to the collections process
  • Weekly bank reconciliation in multiple currencies, including updating the cash flow forecast.
  • Fixed asset tracking and reconciliation on a quarterly basis
  • General Ledger reconciliation and maintenance
  • Monthly foreign exchange update and reconciliation of commissions / inter-company balances
    -Preparation/Oversight of key monthly adjustments
    -Maintenance of revenue recognition
    -Accrual of costs and revenue
  • Budget preparation
    -Preparation of the annual budget
    -Analysis of performance against budget
  • Preparation and filing of US statutory requirements, such as sales taxes, payroll taxes, WCB, etc.
  • Managing all Accounts Payable processes
    -Maintenance and set up of Vendors
    -Provide update on due dates on a per pay and monthly basis.
  • Assistance with monthly, quarterly and annual bank reporting, including preparation of the binder for the annual financial statement audit.
    -Analysis of financial results and ownership of financial statements
    -Preparation and review of monthly financial reporting package for certain entities
    -Preparation of required bank reporting on a monthly and quarterly basis
  • Manage Billing department
    -Review of work
    -Accountability for timeliness of task completion
    -Managing and streamlining processes
  • Special projects as required
    -Assistance with acquisitions model and due diligence
    -Additional analysis as requested

We are looking for a recently designated accountant or advanced accounting student close to getting his/her designation, with several years of work experience. An ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, be able to work independently, have advanced knowledge of Excel, strong analytical skills and great common sense. Other attributes include hands-on person requiring minimal supervision, with ability to multi-task and deal with changing priorities. Experience with accounting systems would be preferable, but we are willing to train the right individual to use Eclipse, our flagship product.

The Professional Services Trainer is responsible to work with our clients, recommending best-practices software utilization and implementation. Key responsibilities include delivering application training, and managing customer go-lives from project management, data conversion, implementation, training, and user guidance, through to post-implementation support.

Your training presentation style inspires people to want to learn more. You offer a strong understanding of technology and a pride in facilitating the learning process. You are flexible, very self-motivated and thrive in a fast-paced team environment. You must be willing to travel extensively and possess a valid passport.

It is critical that you have a minimum of 2 years accounting and business experience, with an accounting or finance degree preferred. Please do not apply if you do not meet this requirement.

Areas of responsibility include but are not limited to:

  • Troubleshoot and research client software issues
  • Train new clients to use Explorer’s construction software solutions
  • Provide consulting services and needs analysis for the planning, conversion and implementation process for our clients, along with recommending best-practice utilization of the various applications
  • Provide product and business knowledge to support customers and ensure successful implementations
  • Deliver application training workshops at our annual user conference
  • Maintain subject matter expertise in the various software modules and assist our technical support group when subject matter expertise is needed
  • Assess current skills and knowledge gaps for existing customers and implement training programs to address those gaps

Qualifications and Experience:

  • CRITICAL: Minimum 2 years accounting and business experience, with an accounting or finance degree preferred
  • Construction industry knowledge
  • Significant experience in implementing or working with US and/or Canadian payroll. Experience in union and certified payroll reporting is an asset.
  • Professional and confident in appearance and presentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with customers
  • Must be a disciplined “self-starter” and operate without daily supervision
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project and Outlook). SQL and XML experience an asset.
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exceptional customer service
  • Must be willing to travel 50-75% of the time
  • Fluency in French or Spanish is an asset
